This is continuing education simplified.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE ON THE TOPICS AND ARTICLES TO CURATE INTO COURSES?

By connecting with industry professionals and understanding the topics our readers are most interested in, Learnedly and The Globe and Mail have reviewed hundreds of articles, curating content that educates, informs and transcends beyond the news of the day.

IS THERE A COST TO ACCESS THE COURSES?

No. The accredited Globe courses are free to access for all Globe Advisor registrants.

WHERE ARE THE COURSES ACCREDITED?

Globe Advisor courses have been accredited by the Alberta Insurance Council and FP Canada for one credit hour each.

WILL I RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE WHEN I COMPLETE EACH COURSE?

Yes! You will receive a course certificate with each completed course, as well as a record of course completion for your records and compliance requirements.

WILL THERE BE A TEST AT THE END OF EACH COURSE?

Yes. Each course has a short quiz at the end, based on the articles within the course. If you’ve read the articles, you should be just fine. And you can always retake the quiz if you’re not successful the first time.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE ALBERTA INSURANCE COUNCIL AND FP CANADA TO ACCREDIT THESE COURSES?

Having our courses accredited by both Alberta Insurance Council and FP Canada gives us a broad coverage for many different licensing and designation and CE requirements.

WILL THESE COURSES SATISFY CE REQUIREMENTS FOR INSURANCE LICENSES OUTSIDE OF ALBERTA?

With the exception of Quebec, provincial insurance regulators with CE requirements generally recognize courses accredited by another provincial regulator. It’s best to contact your provincial regulator to verify.

I AM REGISTERED WITH IIROC. DO THESE COURSES NEED TO BE ACCREDITED BY CECAP?

CECAP accreditation is not a requirement by IIROC for satisfying CE requirements. IIROC recognizes courses offered by other regulated platforms.

“For example, a CE Participant that completes a course to meet the continuing education requirements of another regulated platform, such as financial planning or insurance, may also use that course towards their CE requirements under IIROC’s CE Program.” (Guidance on IIROC’s Continuing Education Program, 2.2. Recognition of Continuing Education Requirements of other Regulated Planforms)

Generally, Globe Advisor courses will apply toward IIROC’s Professional Development category, but it’s always best to check with your dealer’s compliance department first.

CAN I SATISFY CE REQUIREMENTS FOR DESIGNATIONS OTHER THAN THE CFP?

Although it is the responsibility of the designation holder to determine which courses satisfy their CE requirements, the Globe Advisor courses may satisfy CE requirements for the following credentials: Qualified Associate Financial PlannerTM (QAFPTM) Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), Chartered International Wealth Manager (CIWM), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Personal Financial Planner (PFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

DO I NEED TO BE A GLOBE ADVISOR REGISTRANT?

Yes. The Globe Advisor CE Centre is only available to Globe Advisor registrants. If you’re not already registered, click here to create your free account.

DO I NEED TO CREATE A NEW USER ID AND PASSWORD IF I’M ALREADY REGISTERED WITH THE GLOBE AND MAIL?
